black steel seawall in washtenaw county

In the beautiful city of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Seaside Seawalls built a gorgeous black steel seawall and beach inlet for a residential customer’s waterfront property. Ann Arbor, known for its historical sites and the famous University of Michigan (U of M), is home to approximately 113,934 residents, making it Michigan’s sixth largest city. In fact, Ann Arbor has a total area of 28.70 square miles, of which 27.83 square miles is land and 0.87 square miles is water. The well-known Huron River runs through Ann Arbor, making up the majority of this total water area. Because of this, Ann Arbor has a high production of agriculture and fresh fruits. Before we began any kind of construction on this customer’s property, we first obtained the materials and machinery we’d need in order to get the job done. steel seawall and beach inlet area on silver lake south lyon michigan

While of course we’ve been busy this summer constructing a lot of seawalls as well as other landscaping projects here in Michigan, this particular job was very unique, as it involved us building not one, not two, but three galvanized steel seawalls all in a row! In fact, the first house we did also wanted a beach inlet area, so on top of an extremely large seawall project, we excavated a 10.5 foot by 14 foot beach area. Typically, a job of this magnitude would take most people several weeks to complete – but not at Seaside Seawalls! We had the entire project – from the initial planning stage to the final installation stage – complete in just over a week’s time! However, before any kind of construction took place, we first had to gather the many materials we would be requiring for this extremely large job. Since all three Read the full article…

seaside seawall iconWhitmore Lake, MI – Steel Seawall & New Beach Excavation

Monday, October 10th, 2011

Our crew is hard at work on the shoreline of Whitmore Lake in Washtenaw County, Michigan. We will be installing a shiny new 87’ x 18” steel seawall that will extend across the property’s shoreline. Along with the new wall, the construction project includes two 3’ returns and two 12’ returns. Both of the 12’ returns are scheduled for a new beach area. Our excavating professionals will prepare the lot for the new beach by clearing out any undesirable dirt. This will make them ready to be filled in with sand 12” to 15” deep. For this project we opted to use fine sand, also known as 2NS grade. Using the 2NS grade-type will provide longevity to the newly constructed beach. This particular grade of sand is produced by washing and screening natural sand. It has a light golden brown color which comes from the natural abrasion and disintegration of Read the full article…

seaside seawall iconBeach Renovation in White Lake Michigan

Saturday, June 25th, 2011

Seaside Seawall will be operating in the White Lake, Michigan area! Our mission: to construct a beach paradise for one of the Lake’s homeowners. We will start by dredging the water beginning at the shoreline up to 25′ out into the lake to create a pristine clean area. After the spoils have been hauled away, the next step to creating the blissful beach will be to roll out a large piece of fabric mesh that will serve as the base for the beach sand. Two tons of beach sand will be poured over the mesh fabric and spread evenly to cover the entire space. Since the beach sand’s volume is much denser, the sand will not wash away. To complete the serene scene, Seaside Seawall is also constructing a 25’ x 3’ permanent dock for the property. The dock will be built with treated lumber top board and the plan is Read the full article…
