steel seawall built on brighton lake michigan

The city of Brighton is located in the greater Livingston County of Michigan. Seaside Seawalls has done a number of projects for customers in the Brighton area, but our most recent was the installation of a galvanized steel seawall on Brighton Lake. Before starting the construction of this seawall, however, our team had to disassemble the customer’s pre-existing circle decking from its posts so that we could get our crew and our machinery (excavator and skid steer) in there to finish the job! Upon completion of the project though, we reinstalled brand new posts for the customer’s circle decking to ensure that everything was just as it was before we began construction. This residential waterfront property also had an existing wooden retaining wall and boardwalk in place before we began, so our team had to tear down the decking boards of the boardwalk as well as the top portion of Read the full article…

steel seawall and beach inlet area on silver lake south lyon michigan

While of course we’ve been busy this summer constructing a lot of seawalls as well as other landscaping projects here in Michigan, this particular job was very unique, as it involved us building not one, not two, but three galvanized steel seawalls all in a row! In fact, the first house we did also wanted a beach inlet area, so on top of an extremely large seawall project, we excavated a 10.5 foot by 14 foot beach area. Typically, a job of this magnitude would take most people several weeks to complete – but not at Seaside Seawalls! We had the entire project – from the initial planning stage to the final installation stage – complete in just over a week’s time! However, before any kind of construction took place, we first had to gather the many materials we would be requiring for this extremely large job. Since all three Read the full article…

Wolverine Lake Historical Marker

There’s never a dull moment at Seaside Seawalls! This summer we’ve been very busy constructing not only seawalls, but also decks, docks and boardwalks for many of our Michigan residential and commercial clients. Today we’re going to talk about a recent job we completed on Wolverine Lake, which is in Oakland County, Michigan. This lake is in the village of Wolverine Lake City, and has an approximate population of 4,415 residents. If you’re from Michigan, you’ll know that the State’s unofficial nickname is the ‘Wolverine State’. Wolverine Lake City is relatively small, and only about 1.7 square miles in area – 1.3. square miles of which is land, and 0.4 square miles of which is water. The greater Oakland County, in which the village of Wolverine Lake is situated, has a population of about 1,202,362 residents and a total area of 908 square miles (of which nearly 4% is water!) shoreline erosion on grand river michigan

We’ve been very busy lately here at Seaside Seawalls! Not only have we been constructing brand new seawalls for customers all over Michigan, but we’ve also been installing decks, docks, boardwalks, and even repairing old seawalls that are failing. Speaking of seawall repair, we just completed a job on Grand River, which is located in the village of Dimondale (often misspelled ‘Diamondale’) in Eaton County, Michigan. Seaside Seawalls was contacted to repair an existing wooden seawall for a residential client situated on the Grand River in Dimondale. The preexisting seawall was failing, causing movement of the wall which could inevitably lead to shoreline erosion, a common problem that we see a lot of in this industry. In fact, shoreline erosion is probably the number one reason Seaside Seawalls is contacted! Whether it is to repair an old seawall, or to completely tear one down and build a new one, shoreline Read the full article…
