New Steel Seawall on Strawberry Lake in Pinckney, Michigan


We’re at it again! Construction hasn’t stopped all season for us here at Seaside Seawalls, as we work year-round. We have recently Strawberry Lake_Pinckney MIcompleted a job for a residential customer on the beautiful Strawberry Lake in the village of Pinckney, Michigan. Pinckney, which is part of the greater Livingston County, is home to approximately 2,141 residents and has a total area of about 1.5 square miles – 3.25% of that being water. We were contacted by this customer to replace an old, failing seawall with a brand new galvanized steel seawall. After obtaining a DEQ Permit and gathering the necessary equipment (skid steer and excavator) and materials (steel pilings, riprap, and sand for the backfill), we began construction! When we were installing the brand new seawall, we noticed some soft clay in the ground which we were actually able to use to our advantage to help give the wall some extra support. After we finished building the seawall, we backfilled it with sand and placed riprap at 100% of the wall’s water ward toe.
